Hollywood stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Joan Rivers have started a humorous war of words after actress Paltrow mocked the comedienne’s overuse of the anti-wrinkle treatment, Botox. Paltrow, 40, recently claimed that she wouldn’t have Botox again, joking that it made her look like Joan Rivers.
Comic Rivers, 79, hit back at the actress stating, “It just made me laugh. She says Botox made her look like Joan Rivers? She should see what I look like without Botox. That’s really scary.”
Rivers also added that she had to call in to give her response to the comment because she had “so much Botox in my thumbs I can’t type”. The comedienne is well known for her venomous comebacks to insults, as well as her notorious overuse of cosmetic surgery. Rivers has never been one to shy away from insulting other celebrities, recently becoming entangled in a row after mocking singer Adele’s weight, and as such has become a target for insults herself, although usually with comedic undertones.
Botox is a popular anti-wrinkle treatment which relaxes the muscles under the skin, reducing the severity of wrinkles. It has become widely used amongst celebrities to slow down the noticeable effects of the ageing process.
